My primary orientation to therapy is Dialectical Behavior Therapy, a mindfulness-based and skills-focused intervention designed to help individuals both to manage their emotions and to communicate with others more effectively. Please see my page on DBT to learn more about this approach.
For clients who are self-harming or who are at high risk for suicide or violent behavior to enter into individual DBT therapy with me, I require that they participate in a DBT skills group in parallel with our individual work. DBT skills groups in the Triangle can be found here:
For clients who are not exhibiting these behaviors, I do not have this requirement, although you may still find it beneficial to participate in a skills class in conjunction with our individual work.
